explain to use. folks who experienced this fire, who were inside the building when this happened, they tell me that the smoke was so stng, it smelled almost like rubber burning and because of that it was very difficult for them to breathe. they also sayhat as they were trying to exit, when they saw that in some cases it wasn't safe for them to exit the best thing for them to do, head to one of these windows and just get some air and wait for officials to come and rescue them. there were folks who were seriously injured in this fire. to explain how serus this was, i'm told by witnesses who we out front of this building before firefighters arrived here on the scene that there were some people who got out on their own. these people were sevely burn including this child and we're told that child is in critical condition at children's hospital. this witness also tell me that while he was standing in front of this building he witnessed someone jump from most likely the sixth floor of this building and he ss when he think it ground it was a very ha hit, a very grask scene here. investig

news correspondent bob orr joins us this morning with the latest. bob, good morning. >> good morning, erica. we can say the holiday weekend is off to a tense started with the latest airport scare in miami. authorities tell us everything is getting back to normal. but for seven hours overnight, four of miami's six terminals were shut down. airport roads in the vicinity were closed passengers were all ordered evacuated and bomb squad technicians moved in. it started around 9:00 with a security officer spotted something in a checked bag, the luggage screening area where all the bags are put through explosive detection machines. police went out and located the owner of the bag and took that passenger into custody. now we're told the person is expected to be released and may have been released already. while officials will not say exactly on the record what was found, we're led to believe it was not dangerous. for you, the good news is that this evacuation happened during nonpeak hours overnight. not that many flights were effected. there could be residual delays as

outside and see what's going on. we've got gray skies throughout the ea. meanwhile, points south of us, they've been getting heavy rain. miami, florida, look at the rainfall, 4.12 inches of rain. that's pretty common in areas of southern florida. so where is this system right now? well, it's between cuba and miami right now. it's just on the south side. so they've been getting the heavy rain working right up on the atlantic side of florida, even rain coming into areas like jacksonville, florida. you can see that onshore circulation from palm bay down to miami. now, that's assocated with tropical storm nicole that got named shortly after 11:00 a.m. this morning but look at the rain around north carolina. that's a separate low pressure system. and at's what's going to be aiding in our troubles here, the fact that we're getting really soaked right now, som of those spots down south. so then we're going to see training tomorrow with areas getting just soaked and then soaked again. one to two inchesnd the another one to two inches. this goes down through north carolina. so here' what we're
